Who do you admire most and why?

My Father, Carl Bailey Sr. He has always provided an example of patience, commitment, humbleness and a lot of wisdom.

What is the quality you most like in a person?

Moral integrity and humor.

What is the quality you most like in a colleague?

It’s hard to narrow it down to one, but my top three are respect, dependability and creativity.

What qualities are important to you in a leader?

Confidence, humility and inspiration.

What or who is the greatest love of your life?

I can't answer that with just one. After God, it's my wife and kids.

Which talent would you most like to have?

The gift of playing the piano by ear. Solidified my wife’s “I do” by playing my vows at our wedding.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?

Raising my kids to be productive.

Where would you most like to live?

Anywhere on Grandfather Mountain. Located in the upper hills of North Carolina, you can’t beat the peace and tranquility.

What is your most treasured possession?

My word.

What do you value most in your friends?

Humor and concern for the wellbeing of our relationship.

Who are your favorite writers

I enjoy reading the teachings written by the Apostle Paul in the Bible and various relationship books with my wife, such as The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman. I also enjoy reading mysteries written by various authors.

What's the best live event you've ever seen and why?

MC Hammer in Frankfurt, Germany was one of my first in the late 80s or early 90s. It was a spectacular stage show at the time with so many people. Disney’s The Lion King has to be up there as a modern favorite.

What is your favorite venue and why?

The Fox Theater in Atlanta is beautiful featuring a ceiling of stars inside the chamber. The Buell Theatre at the Denver Performing Arts Center – it’s a grand transformation of a sporting complex. I admire the architecture of The Cutler Majestic Theater in Boston. Grand elegance of architecture of yesteryear.

What is your favorite song, musician, band, artist, player or team of all time and why?

I’m eclectic, so I don’t have one favorite song or musician. I’m a fan of R&B music, gospel music, instrumental jazz, pop, some country, and I love professional football. I’m a Carolina Panthers fan. I don’t have an all-time favorite team, but I enjoyed the rivalry of the Cowboys and Steelers in the 70s, Doug Williams’ Redskins Super Bowl win and the first Super Bowl appearance by the Panthers in 2003.

What is your favorite place to visit or place you'd love to visit and why?

The Grand Canyon; need I say more? One day!

If you could go back in time, what advice would you give yourself?

Take advantage of every opportunity and enjoy those journeys as an avenue to learn.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

My wife and I enjoy hopping on our Harley and taking rides to the mountains, the beaches and other places. We’ve ridden as far as Mississippi from North Carolina.

If you were granted three wishes today, what would they be?

One, to be an inspiration to others who cross my path. Two, to be inspired by others to do meaningful things. Three, to have a long life with my wife.

What brings you the most joy or greatest meaning in life?

Seeing my three kids (and many other kids that we have adopted along the way) succeed in life, learning from my kids and having them seek out opportunities to spend time with me.

Why are you a member of INTIX?

From day one I have learned from industry professionals and developed close-knit relationships with colleagues across the nation.

What do you get from INTIX?

A sense of pride in myself and the industry that I work in.

How do you use INTIX?

For networking, innovation and research.

What does INTIX give you that is different from everything else you are doing?

Lifelong connections that have developed into professional resources and sources of inspiration. A sense of family.

Who is your mentor?

I have many professional mentors and I would hate to leave anyone out. The industry itself provides me with mentorship. There are many people who don’t even know they are mentoring me, observing their work, their intelligence, their innovation and drive.

What do you love most about your job?

My customers, my staff, my industry colleagues and the fact that my days are never boring.

What do you love most about our industry?

The people, the growth and the acknowledgement of its importance.

What is your most memorable career moment?

There have been many - from having the opportunity to serve in the U.S. Army to my first major on-sale for at Blumenthal Performing Arts, to being part of the cutting-edge growth of Blumenthal Performing Arts over 17 years.

What is your most memorable INTIX moment?

Last year’s success with the fundraising committee. I was ecstatic about the success we had as a team. Particularly, I enjoyed working with the committee members. They were very creative, goal-oriented and can-do individuals. They were phenomenal! My first INTIX in Denver has to be mentioned as well! The gala was unforgettable!
