North Carolina musician Josh Daniel's Quarantine Sessions on Facebook Live have drawn a massive following and generated sufficient revenue to feed his family and pay the mortgage during the coronavirus pandemic. His daily two-hour sets post up to 75,000 views. "Every single day, more and more people have been watching it and tipping me [virtually] and we're rocking the [merchandise]," Daniel said. Livestreaming performances are proving to be a lucrative option for artists like Daniel, whose livelihood has been disrupted by venue closings and gig cancellations due to the crisis. "I get notes every single day from people that say they look forward to this," he said. "Life sucks [during COVID-19] but they appreciate it. It gives them an escape, and it gives me an escape too." Daniel remains devoted to broadcasting from his home for the long term, as well as performing live after a vaccine reaches the market and live music venues reopen.
