How True Tickets Is Bringing Blockchain to Broadway

The Shubert Organization recently announced a partnership with blockchain-based startup True Tickets to improve the ticketing experience for Broadway shows. True Tickets will roll out a pilot program with the Shubert Ticketing operation next year. The platform provides digital tickets through a link on buyers' smartphones, and employs blockchain's tamper-proof ledger to monitor every transaction related to each ticket, minimizing the potential for fraud and guaranteeing that the ticket's user is the legitimate buyer. "By allowing our clients to better manage their digital tickets, they can better manage and improve the overall patron experience, which leads to establishing more meaningful relationships with them," says True Tickets CEO Matt Zarracina. The presence of blockchain will likely be invisible to ticket-buyers, and now attendees can be assured that a ticket is genuine. This is "changing outcomes without changing behaviors," according to Zarracina.
