Sports leaders in Dallas are planning for the tremendous boost the city will gain with the Fédération Internationale de Football Association's (FIFA) announcement that AT&T Stadium in Arlington will host at least one of the 2026 World Cup matches. Although the venue for the final 2026 match remains undecided, Dallas Sports Commission Executive Director Monica Paul said her team is hopeful that it will be AT&T Stadium. FIFA is also expected to make a decision on the location of the international broadcast center in the first quarter of next year, and Paul's hopes are on Fair Park scoring that coup. She said she and her team have been taking notes on this year's World Cup in Qatar "to hopefully bring home some lessons for us in 2026." Among the insights gained from such observations is fans' passion for the event, which the Dallas organizers aim to leverage. "We're going to need thousands of volunteers and ambassadors to make this a success in welcoming everyone from all over the world into the DFW area," Paul said. "There will be ancillary events that people will be able to take part in as well."
