Some Major League Baseball teams host winterfests at their ballparks as part of their holiday programming, while minor league teams in markets like Oklahoma City and Las Vegas are also getting into the act. For example, Chicago White Sox triple-A affiliates the Charlotte Knights are holding their third annual “Light the Knights” festival at Truist Field, which this year expanded to include a regulation-size hockey rink for skating and a snow tubing slide. “We do special events that don't necessarily make us a ton of money, but it's good for the area and this will be one of them,” said Dan Rajkowski, the Knights' chief operating officer. The festival also has given corporate holiday parties in premium spaces at Truist Field a bump after the pandemic caused business to erode. Rajkowski said some companies have reserved the entire ballpark for outings Monday through Wednesday over the next six weeks before the venue opens to the public Thursday through Saturday.
