A recent spate of concert tour cancellations and changes by big-name recording artists has led to questions about whether the post-pandemic live music boom may be cooling amid consumer spending fatigue and elevated ticket prices. On May 31, Jennifer Lopez made headlines by canceling her 2024 tour, citing a desire to spend more time with her family. Supply, such as having too many acts touring at the same time or the same artists touring repeatedly, is another issue. Other acts falling victim to costly concert fatigue include: pop-rock band 311, which recently canceled upcoming European tour dates because of the "rising costs of touring overseas;" Pink and Justin Timberlake, both of whom have also recently canceled specific show dates; and the Jonas Brothers, which recently postponed their upcoming European tour. None publicly cited financial concerns as reasons for doing so.
