During a recent parliamentary debate, U.K. culture minister Chris Bryant pledged that "change is coming" on the issue of secondary ticketing. Prime Minister Keir Starmer is expected to soon introduce new legislation to cap ticket resale as part of the Labour Party manifesto. The topic was discussed at Westminster Hall on Oct. 24 in a hearing instigated by Labour and Co-operative MP Emma Foody. She remarked, "The issue profoundly affects music and sport fans, event-goers and the integrity of our live entertainment industry, but it appears to be inadequately addressed by current regulatory frameworks." She went on to empathize with those citizens who feel a sense of injustice at the scale of today's secondary ticketing platforms, with tickets often appearing mere moments after people have tried to buy them. Bryant stressed that a key matter moving forward will be enforcement. He concluded, "We made manifesto commitments during the general election that we are absolutely determined to implement."
