Billboard (10/11/21) Mims, Taylor
A survey conducted by MusicWatch found 67% of 753 music listeners support venues deploying COVID-19 safety protocols related to masking, proof of vaccination or recent testing at concerts. Just 6% of respondents would not attend a venue where there were COVID-19 safety requirements, while only 15% said they would be comfortable with attendees using "common sense" concerning vaccination and masking mandates for indoor concerts. Meanwhile, 70% said they were already vaccinated and ready to attend a performance, which rose to 80% for fans who have attended a live music event since 2019. MusicWatch claims older music fans are more likely to favor multiple safety protocols, including both masks and proof of vaccination or negative tests. Yet unvaccinated fans are far less supportive of COVID-19 safety requirements: of the unvaccinated segment who do not intend to get inoculated — less than 20% of survey respondents — 29% would not attend a venue where there was a requirement and just 27% think the mandates are a good idea.
