If you haven’t experienced the live show yet, you’re likely familiar with the films. The original Magic Mike starring Channing Tatum debuted in 2012 and was hailed by critics as one of the year's top ten movies, grossing over $167 million globally. Its success led to sequels in 2015 and 2023, while the stage production Magic Mike Live made its dazzling debut in Las Vegas in 2017. The live show has since captivated audiences in cities around the world.
At the upcoming INTIX 2025 conference, a workshop will pull back the curtain on the ticketing strategies that drive the success of Magic Mike Live. At noon on Thursday, Jan. 30, conference attendees can take in the session titled “How Magic Mike Live Turns up the Heat to Deliver the Perfect Ticketing Experience.” Hosted by Joanne McCarthy, VP of Global Ticketing Operations at Magic Mike Live Worldwide, and Chris Leyland, Head of Data at Magic Mike Live’s ticketing provider, TickX, the workshop promises to deliver actionable insights on how the team uses technology to enchant audiences and elevate their experience from the moment they first interact with the brand.
“Magic Mike Live manages to bring the show’s energy and excitement to life even before customers reach the purchase flow. Their use of tools and partnerships creates an immersive experience at every step,” says Leyland. “We’ll explore the customer journey from start to finish, showing how the Magic Mike team brings their experience to life at every touchpoint. We’ll dive into how they use cutting-edge tech to create a booking journey like no other.”
Patrons of Magic Mike Live are encouraged to “free their magic” and let the experience unfold in all its intense, liberating, sensual, hilarious and transformative glory. The show is billed as “really freaking fun,” and that same spirit is what McCarthy and Leyland will bring to their INTIX 2025 conference session.
“It’s a relaxed ‘fireside’ chat with Jo and me, digging into how Magic Mike Live brings its magic to life,” shares Leyland. “With it being one of the hottest shows in the UK and US, you’ll leave with actionable insights and big takeaways.”
He adds, “This session is for a wide range of roles — marketing, branding, ecommerce, CRM, and, of course, data! Jo and I will keep it informal so there will be something for everyone to take away.”
During the session, INTIX conference attendees will discover how a fully branded purchase flow brings the Magic Mike Live experience to life, immersing customers before they even click ‘purchase.’ This carefully crafted journey seamlessly connects live event consumers from the first ad to checkout, creating a cohesive, engaging experience that delivers results. As attendees will hear, the numbers speak for themselves, with higher conversion rates and increased average order values.
McCarthy and Leyland will reveal how Magic Mike Live integrates dynamic booking options and marketing tools in the ticketing system to enhance every touchpoint of the customer journey. They will also share how hyper-targeted marketing campaigns and integrated marketing, data and analytics with consolidated sales data in a single dashboard contribute to the live show’s sales success.
“You’ll need to attend to hear the full story, but having everything in one place enables smarter, faster decisions,” Leyland emphasizes. “Real-time insights, customer segmentation and direct integration save time and money while boosting ROAS (return on ad spend). For a multi-country, multi-venue experience, it’s a game-changer. Managing analytics and marketing across platforms for multiple locations would be a nightmare. Their approach scales efficiency, delivering significant impact on the bottom line.”
Add-ons are proving to be a significant boost to Magic Mike Live’s bottom line. The team is successfully upselling a restaurant add-on with a 13% attachment rate. They also offer upgraded tickets, meet-and-greets with the cast, and a VIP experience, which includes a full tasting menu at the restaurant, further elevating the audience experience and driving additional revenue.
“These add-ons elevate the experience right from the booking journey, making it so much more than just a show,” says Leyland.
While Leyland is careful not to reveal too much, we couldn’t resist asking whether the session will include stats and success stories about upgrades and add-ons.
“Absolutely!” he says enthusiastically. “This informal chat will be packed with insights, including stats and real success stories. We want everyone to leave with actionable takeaways and a clear idea of the potential impact.”
In closing, he says, “I am excited to be part of INTIX and to share some incredible insights from Jo and the team. I can’t wait to see everyone there!”
