With events increasingly becoming the starting point for vacation trip planning rather than an add-on, Trip.com Group has announced that it will now sell tickets for major concerts, sporting events and theatrical shows directly on its platform via a new partnership with Dublin-based ticketing company Coras. This arrangement gives Trip.com access to primary inventory for top European football matches, United States leagues like Major League Baseball and live music events, along with Broadway and West End productions. Customers will be able to view venue pricing and live seat availability without being sent to external sites. Coras CEO Mark McLaughlin says the Taylor Swift Eras tour "was the industry turning point in realizing that events are a huge driver of travel and often the first product that the customer buys. That presents an opportunity to upsell flights, hotels and transfers."
