The deadline for TikTok to be sold or banned in the U.S. is fast approaching, and the company received a setback late last week when a U.S. federals appeals court declined to overturn the law mandating the sale or ban. The next step is an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. But that's only if its justices decide to hear the case, let alone reverse the previous ruling. TikTok has until Jan. 19 to agree to a sale or face a ban in the United States. That is one day before Donald Trump retakes the Oval Office, and the returning president has previously pledged to "save TikTok" during his campaign. Trump’s support for TikTok once in power may not be guaranteed, though, if his administration becomes embroiled in an escalating trade battle with China.
