The British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) were held this past weekend, and Associated Press columnist Lindsay Bahr weighed in with her best and most memorable moments of the evening. Right from the get-go, Bahr was delighted with the opening musical number that saw host David Tennant being joined by actor Brian Cox for a rousing rendition of The Proclaimers' song "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)." In terms of award wins, Bahr applauded the BAFTAs for awarding "Conclave" with the top honor of the night, Best Picture; "The Brutalist" with Best Actor (Adrien Brody) and Best Director (Brady Corbet); and "Anora" for Best Actress (Mikey Madison). Finally, Bahr singled out Zoe Saldaña for her teary and fierce acceptance speech upon being named Best Supporting Actress. She remarked, "Films are supposed to change hearts and challenge minds, and I hope, I hope that 'Emilia Pérez' did something like this. Voices need to be heard . . . just not my English accent."
