A new breed of ticket scalpers on the Discord chat website groups are fans who combine their online savvy with their youthful enthusiasm and entrepreneurism. Such individuals hail from pay-walled ticket-resale-coordination groups that reside on Discord. One example is Fashioninsta, a young Coloradoan who last year set up Book of Resell, a private service that charges $50 a month in return for his knowledge of the music industry, including the most desirable seating in U.S. venues and other ticket-purchasing/reselling advice. His primary clients are men 18 to 25. Fashioninsta views his role as a ticket resale facilitator as rather altruistic. "I see people go from dead broke ... and having a little side hobby like ticket-selling can really help them do it," he notes. Discord group members also are encouraged to talk about and take pride in their reselling successes.
