The Melbourne Cricket Grounds in Australia ranks as the largest venue Taylor Swift will play on her Eras Tour, with nearly 100,000 fans attending each night. It's also proving to be the hardest venue to find a ticket, either regular or resale. That's because the Major Events Act of 2009, which was amended in 2022, prevents reselling tickets at exorbitant sums. To ensure that tickets are only purchased by fans and not by scalpers or bots looking to make a huge profit, the law states that any "major event" deemed by the government of Victoria (Melbourne's state) cannot have tickets resold for more than 10% above face value. Those who disobey could face fines of thousands of dollars. "Tickets can only be resold through an authorized ticket seller like Ticketek or Ticketmaster," notes Jeannie Paterson, a law professor at the University of Melbourne.
