Female artists dominate this year's Grammy Awards nominations, which were announced Nov. 10 by the Recording Academy and led by SZA with nine nods and Phoebe Bridgers with seven. Of Bridgers’ nominations, a half-dozen are for her work with the all-female band, boygenius. Following her with six nominations each are Brandy Clark, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift. "Seeing the women nominees this year, and the number of them, was not a surprise but it was something that made me happy," the Recording Academy President and CEO Harvey Mason Jr. said. He believes that representation will enable the next group of creators to say: "Maybe I have an opportunity to express myself or voice my thoughts like that person." Only recordings released between Oct. 1, 2022, and Sept. 15 were eligible. The 2024 Grammy Awards will air on Feb. 4 live on CBS and Paramount+ from Los Angeles.
