This year's Super Bowl Live in downtown Atlanta's Centennial Olympic Park is described by Populous event manager Bobby Sloan as the “first beacon as you approach the stadium.” The event is filling about 80 percent of the park near Mercedes-Benz Stadium, with free activities for fans. Sloan notes the team has been planning for Super Bowl Live since July, considering various weather scenarios to work out its organization. Populous opted for two 164-foot-wide tents, one housing the main stage, VIP decks, and general concert viewing, while the other contains the main food hall and National Football League team houses. The eight-day event features musical acts that each offer a unique theme, and Sloan says the park is well-aligned with concert-led events. Its advantages include a natural amphitheater, while recent improvements provide more green space and better pedestrian flow. Sloan says once Populous specified the stage site, it modeled park zoning according to Atlanta's neighborhoods. “A lot of thought went into how to experience the flow, but more in a way for it to be a nice organic experience for fans to flow around and stumble upon different things they may not have known were there,” he notes.
