StubHub has released an augmented reality (AR) iOS app update enabling potential ticket buyers to explore an immersive view of U.S. Bank Stadium before the upcoming Super Bowl between the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles. With the update, fans can use their iPhones and iPads to aim their cameras at a flat surface and have a three-dimensional rendering of the venue appear. Swiping around the stadium lets fans view the perspective of the game from a specific seating section, and they also can check out a map of the surrounding area to find parking lots, public transportation, StubHub ticket pickup sites, StubHub's pregame party, points of interest in Minneapolis, and general information on the game. Immersive view is an evolution of StubHub's seat visualization product features rolled out in 2016 with Virtual View. "StubHub's immersive view experience not only demonstrates a practical use case for AR within ticketing and live events, but also serves as an important milestone for the industry," says StubHub's Matt Swann. "As the first ticketing player to implement this technology, we hope to further enhance the purchasing experience ahead of the biggest day in football."
