Brian L. Schwalb, the attorney general for Washington, D.C., has filed a lawsuit against StubHub, accusing the resale platform of hidden fees and "deceptive" pricing. Schwalb alleges the platform not only hides mandatory fees from customers until the end of a lengthy purchase process, but then fails to provide clear information about the purpose of those fees or how they're calculated. He further charges that the "unfair practices" interfere with consumers’ ability to comparison shop and subsequently make informed decisions about their ticket purchases — a clear violation of the District of Columbia's consumer protection laws, he asserts.
