This past Memorial Day weekend saw the 109th running of the Indianapolis 500, long touted as the "Greatest Spectacle in Racing." Those in attendance got their money's worth, as the weekend featured a rookie driver starting from pole position for the first time since 1996; a half-dozen Oscar Mayer Wienermobiles "racing" in the inaugural Weenie 500; and three-time IndyCar champion Álex Palou winning the race, memorably drinking cold milk and not champagne in Victory Lane. All 250,000 permanent seats had been sold on the Friday prior to race weekend, with another 100,000 or so fans filling the infield. It marked the first time the event has sold out its grandstands since the race's 100th running in 2016.
