The Cargo rideshare service has partnered with SeatGeek to expand the products that can be ordered while en route, letting customers buy tickets at a discount. Passengers in a Cargo-equipped vehicle can enter their driver's unique code into the “mobile menu,” and then search tickets available for sale on SeatGeek. Upon selecting a ticket, customers can check out with a credit card or mobile wallet. “It's all happening within the Cargo Web app in a pretty seamless way,” says SeatGeek's Lee Moulton. Passengers can avail themselves of an exclusive deal on the tickets, which is solely available when they are in a rideshare vehicle. Moulton says the “consumer needs some kind of incentive or benefit” besides convenience, with the aim of encouraging consumers to purchase through the platform. He notes the offering comes amid several market trends, including consumers buying tickets closer to actual events, and even while traveling to or in line for an event. Moulton also envisions driverless cars as a potential market, with SeatGeek wanting to be “part of that ecosystem” and a first mover in the industry via the Cargo partnership.
