SAG-AFTRA Urges Support for Record Label Deal Allowing ‘Ethical’ Use of AI Voices

SAG-AFTRA has called on its members to support a new accord with the major record labels — including Warner Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group and Disney Music Group — which establishes conditions under which singers' voices can be replicated with artificial intelligence (AI). The union says the tentative agreement provides for "ethical and responsible" use of AI. It follows the union's contract with the major film and TV studios, which ended last year's actors strike and set terms for AI use going forward in motion pictures and TV shows.
