John P. Buschhorn Ticketing Titan Award
Each year we honor the legacy of our dear friend by presenting the John P. Buschhorn Ticketing Titan Award to a most deserving member of our ticketing community.
It was our honor to present the 2023 FutureTix John P. Buschhorn Ticketing Titan Award to Russ Stanley, June 27, 2024. A small group of us were able to gather virtually to bestow this well-deserved award.
The John P. Buschhorn Ticketing Titan Award is given annually to a long-term ticketing professional that has exhibited the same Leadership, Integrity and Excellence that John embodied. The original 1960 name of John’s beloved New York Jets football team was the New York Titans.
Russ, is in his 35th year with the San Francisco Giants serving as Senior Vice President, Ticket Sales and Services. Early in his ticketing career, Russ was passed the baton from his mentor, Arthur Schulze, as ticketing began to embrace technology in earnest. He is an early adopter and has brought many innovations to the ticket marketplace that are now standard operating procedure. Russ helped to form the BAPTA regional ticketing group, and has recently been presented with the Patricia G Spira INTIX Lifetime Achievement Award. Among other events, Russ has ticketed thousands of regular and post season baseball games, concerts and football bowl games. Through his team’s efforts he has helped to bring lifetime memories and smiles to millions of fans.
About the Award:
John Buschhorn’s ticketing career began in 1977 when he became the New York Cosmos ticketing manager. “Buschie,” as he was known to his many industry friends, subsequently became Vice-President & General Manager for Ticketmaster’s East Region covering from Virginia to Maine. He worked closely with Fred Rosen in what many call the “wild, wild west days” of ticketing. One day the New York Jets were seeking someone to run their ticketing department. Buschie was an ideal fit, and so began a 14-year career with the Jets. When the Jets offices moved from Long Island to New Jersey, John took a Director’s position at Madison Square Garden. A littleknown fact is that before ticketing, John was a New York City Police Officer for four years. John was a mentor to so many; he was a charismatic character and his stories and good humor brought smiles to all that knew him. To know John, was to love John.
The previous recipients of this award are Bob Beatty, MSG (retired); Maureen Andersen, President & CEO, INTIX; Curtis Howells, Consolidated Printing; Vince Rieger, Shubert (retired), Gail Anderson, Minnesota State Fair (retired), Karen Sullivan, Meadowlands Sports Complex (semi-retired), Veronica Lawlor, LA Lakers, and now Russ Stanley, San Francisco Giants has taken his place as the 8 th recipient of this prestigious award.
Russ, congratulations on your many achievements and furthering our ticketing community through positive relationships, innovation, empowerment, illumination and life-long friendships.
