Aramark officials said the concessionaire for last week's Field of Dreams game in Dyersville, Iowa, supported mobile payments and accepted cash for the primetime match between the Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees. Todd Barnes, senior principal of event consultant Populous, said mobile ordering was enabled by a WiFi system set up by Major League Baseball (MLB) and temporary cell towers erected by the major carriers. Fans could order concessions for pickup through the MLB Ballpark mobile app, while beer served at mobile beverage carts could be ordered through a quick-response code system. There were seven themed concession tents along the third-base line, while food also was sold at a smaller ball field next door that was the movie set for "Field of Dreams." Aramark also sold pork tenderloin sandwiches, a signature delicacy across Iowa. About 250 staff were on-site, with support from the University of Iowa and Xtream Arena, both based in the Iowa City-Coralville community.
