Paris has initiated the countdown to the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics, with 95% of planned venues already in place or temporary, whose legacy dovetails with the city's long-term development goals. The celebratory event will extend along the Seine from the new Olympic Village to sites including the Grand Palais and the Eiffel Tower. The Olympics will run from July 26 to Aug. 11, and officials with the International Olympic Committee are keen to create a new benchmark for inclusive, gender-balanced and youth-focused games. New sports added at the request of Paris 2024 include breaking, sport climbing, skateboarding and surfing. Almost 10 million tickets for the 2024 Olympics and another 3.4 million for the Paralympics will be sold. Packages and individual event tickets will also be available for the Olympics, while day passes to many sports and individual event tickets will be offered for the Paralympics. A draw will be held to give everyone an equal chance to purchase a ticket to the Olympic Games. All Olympic sports will start at the cost of €24, and all Paralympic sports will cost €15. The primary goal of Paris 2024 is to host an event that is planned by and for athletes. The Paralympics will run from Aug. 28 to Sept. 8.
