The New York Philharmonic will be the first to perform a concert at Radio City Music Hall following the installation of the venue’s Sphere Immersive Sound System. The performance will take place on Jan. 25, with tickets set to go on sale Dec. 12 at 10 a.m. ET. Led by conductor Gustavo Dudamel, the one-night event will feature 80 musicians and offer audiences an unprecedented level of audio clarity, thanks to the same cutting-edge technology now used in the Rockettes’ holiday shows.
“We are proud to welcome the New York Philharmonic to Radio City Music Hall for their first-ever performance, and as the first concert to utilize the new, groundbreaking Sphere Immersive Sound system, which has made the Music Hall the best-sounding theater in the world,” Josephine Vaccarello, Executive Vice President of Live for MSG Entertainment, said in a statement. “This concert will be unlike any other orchestral performance – where the power of the NY Phil will be coupled with the power of Sphere Immersive Sound to bring a unique clarity and richness of music to the 6,000-person audience.”
