On Saturday, June 8, the Chicago Red Stars hosted Bay FC at Wrigley Field and drew a crowd of 35,038 — the largest in National Women’s Soccer League history. The previous record was 34,130 for the final game of Megan Rapinoe’s storied career at Lumen Field in October 2023. Wrigley Field is most famous as the home ballpark of Major League Baseball’s Chicago Cubs. It usually has a capacity of 41,649, but adjustments were needed to turn it into a soccer stadium thus reducing the number of seats. For those keeping score, the home team lost 2-1.
