Physical security technology company Evolv has developed a touchless screening system that employs sensors, artificial intelligence and cloud analytics to identify threats without inconveniencing attendees at large events. The Evolv Express system uses scanners standing at entrances to screen out physical threats at a rate of about 4,000 people an hour, which is 10 times faster than a conventional metal detector. The system's AI component searches for specific shapes, sizes and densities associated with knives, guns or other weapons, and it evolves as new threats are identified. "Evolv's low profile ensures venues won't have to compromise customer experience to increase safety," the company's website reads. The Express system has been implemented in sports stadiums and convention centers throughout the U.S., most recently Cleveland's FirstEnergy Stadium, where 12 Express units replaced 100 metal detectors.
