The MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) aired, for the first time in its four-decade history, on CBS this past Sunday. The New York Times listed what its journalists considered the six most memorable moments from the Manhattan-based show. They included: one, Doja Cat performing her latest single, "Jealous Type," while channeling such classic '80s tropes as Max Headroom; two, Sabrina Carpenter bringing out stars from "RuPaul's Drag Race" for her "Tears" performance; three, Tate McRae's fun choreography during a medley of her hit songs; and, four, Lady Gaga accepting the show's first televised award of the night for Artist of the Year, then having to hustle over to Madison Square Garden for her own previously booked concert. Other highlights included Steven Tyler, Joe Perry and Yungblud paying tribute to the recently deceased Ozzy Osbourne to Mariah Carey and Busta Rhymes receiving their first-ever VMA honors.
