March 17, 2026 — As the 2025/26 summer season draws to a close, Australian-born ticketing and event operations platform Megatix is marking its most significant period of growth to date. Between Christmas and New Year’s Day alone, the platform scanned 344,060 tickets — representing a 21% increase in volume compared to the same period in 2024.
Founded by industry insiders with decades of experience as promoters and festival managers, Megatix was built to return power and transparency to creators. Today, it is the invisible engine behind many of the most prominent festivals, venues, and tourism destinations across the Asia-Pacific region.
Summer data from Megatix has also revealed several key and emerging trends in events and ticketing across APAC:
The Rise of the Last-Minute Luxury Traveller
One of the most defining shifts of the 2025/26 season was the ongoing surge in high-intent, low-notice purchasing. Revenue from VIP tables and premium experiences skyrocketed by 87% year-on-year, nearly doubling since 2024. This trend was coupled with a significant last-minute booking culture, with 38% of all tickets during the peak New Year’s period purchased within the final 72 hours.
This data signals the emergence of a new “last-minute luxury" demographic: affluent travellers who value spontaneity and are willing to pay a premium for high-end access at a moment's notice.
A Borderless Event Ecosystem
Megatix’s footprint now spans the core corridors of modern tourism, with Australia, Indonesia (Bali), and Thailand emerging as the leading regions for summer activity. The platform’s ability to operate seamlessly across these markets was highlighted by one particularly dedicated customer, who used Megatix to purchase tickets for nine different New Year’s events across five days in two different countries (Australia and Indonesia).
This cross-border momentum is further supported by Megatix’s expanding on-the-ground infrastructure in Bali, where the company has begun deploying ticketing kiosks at key tourism hubs and venues across the island. The rollout strengthens Megatix’s event ecosystem by capturing the growing trend of spontaneous, last-minute ticket purchases among international visitors, allowing travellers to discover and access events seamlessly while already in destination.
Global Demand in Local Hotspots
The summer data reinforces Bali and Phuket’s status as the epicentres of global destination partying. In these tourist hotspots, international buyers originated from 52 different countries and accounted for 64% of total ticket sales.
Megatix’s reach is now truly global, with the top purchasing regions for the summer period identified as: Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, US, Hong Kong, UK, Vietnam, India, Japan, and Germany.
The ‘Destination Party’ Dominates
Category trends for the season were led by beach clubs and destination parties, which outperformed traditional nightlife formats. As travellers seek out "lifestyle" experiences over simple club nights, Megatix has become the primary partner for many of the world's most iconic beachfront venues.
Megatix CEO Roshan Odhavji said: "Another Summer capped off by significant growth in tickets scanned, and a near-doubling of VIP revenue, tells us that the 'destination party' isn't just a trend — it's the new standard for events-driven global travel. We’re incredibly proud to be the engine behind so many iconic summer moments.
“As we move into 2026, the focus remains on further expansion across the APAC region, continuing to replace outdated legacy systems with a fairer, more transparent, and highly scalable technological framework.”
