StubHub Canada reports the Toronto Maple Leafs have the highest average National Hockey League (NHL) ticket price on the secondary market, at $205.42 per ticket. The Vegas Golden Knights' top average ticket price is $186.70 by comparison, while the New York Rangers average $140.74, the St. Louis Blues $137.27, and the Montreal Canadiens $128.34. Among the seven Canadian teams, only tickets for Toronto, Montreal and Edmonton reach the triple digits. The popularity of star players like Mitch Marner and Auston Matthews helps explain the Maple Leafs' popularity, but the team has not won a playoff series since 2004. The Golden Knights is the top-ranked NHL team among StubHub's most in demand markets, and the second-ranked team in terms of year-over-year growth with a 252 percent gain. For Toronto, demand for tickets is simply higher than most other fan bases, and it holds steady year after year. Total ticket sales for Maple Leafs games show an upswing, despite a slight decline in year-over-year sales.
