Radio City Music Hall and Madison Square Garden (MSG) are taking a vanguard position to inaugurate the reopening of New York City venues. The Tribeca Festival is scheduled to hold its closing night event at Radio City Music Hall on June 19, with a full capacity, fully vaccinated audience. "Having Radio City back at a hundred percent without masks, with people enjoying New York and the New York arts, is going to be not only symbolic and metaphoric, but I think it's going to go a long way towards bringing back this state overall," announced New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Meanwhile, the New York Knicks' first two playoff games against the Atlanta Hawks, which were both sold out, took place at MSG, with 90% of fans expected to be fully vaccinated. Attendees for the May 23 and May 25 games had to provide proof of full vaccination, two weeks or more removed from a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine or the second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines; proof of a negative antigen COVID-19 test taken within six hours of the event; or proof of a negative PCR COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of event day. "This overwhelming response by Knicks fans ... should silence any doubters," said MSG Entertainment CEO James Dolan. "It's time to start booking events and filling up our schedules, so stay tuned."
