LAKEVILLE, PA, August 26, 2026 - LockData Technologies, Inc., a full-stack technology company serving the performing arts and live events industry for more than 25 years, today announced its transition to employee ownership through an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT). The structure places the company in a trust held for the benefit of its employees, securing LockData's independence and long-term future.
Founded by Chuck Lockwood in 2000, LockData has grown into a technology partner for Broadway producers, performing arts centers, theaters, and ticketing platforms worldwide. The move to an EOT, a model still uncommon in the United States and more established in the United Kingdom, reflects a deliberate choice to preserve the company's culture, client relationships, and independence as it enters its next chapter.
"In the software development industry, twenty-six years represents an entire lifetime," said Chuck Lockwood, President of LockData Technologies. "Having built a dedicated team supporting dedicated clients, finding an exit strategy that could protect them from external business acquisition pressures while establishing a foundation for sustained growth was vital. After years of evaluating different succession paths, the EOT model clearly emerged as the ideal solution."
For LockData's clients, the transition is designed to ensure continuity. The same team continues to develop and support the systems clients rely on, with no change to service or relationships. Under employee ownership, that team now shares directly in the company's success.
"I was the first person Chuck hired, so I've seen nearly every version of this company. What's stayed constant is the people," said Brian Davailus, Director of Digital Strategy at LockData Technologies. "Some of the folks I work with have been here a decade or more, and so have some of our clients. That's not an accident. We've built a business around understanding our clients' work, whether that's a Broadway box office or an enterprise CRM. That only happens when people stick around long enough to learn it. An Employee Ownership Trust puts the company in the hands of those same people, which is where it belongs. I'm honored to help steward that going forward, and to make sure what got us here doesn't get lost along the way."
LockData worked with Common Trust to establish the Employee Ownership Trust.
