Live Nation Urban and Live Nation's BE-Nation internal resource group have launched the Afro-Renaissance multi-event series to celebrate Black History Month. The series kicked off on Feb. 2, and events include live music, comedy performances and poetry readings. Events are scheduled in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., Chicago, Atlanta, New York City and Houston, while several conversations with Black executives from various industries are being hosted on Instagram Live. Live Nation declared that Afro-Renaissance intends to “amplify Black voices, create spaces for Black creativity and spotlight resources and industry executives for those looking to grow and learn more about the entertainment business.” The series will establish a recruiting platform for Historically Black College and University students from Clark Atlanta University and Howard University, and will also partner with local Black-owned businesses and organizations such as Uncle Nearest, Broccoli City and Wtmove.app. The first event in the series was “The Garden: A Soul Jam” at Los Angeles' The Peppermint Club, showcasing emerging Black artists in soul, R&B and hip-hop genres.
