Live Nation and nonprofit partner Music Forward Foundation have announced this year's recipients of $50,000 in scholarships for college students pursuing music industry careers. The 2023 scholarships went to Asad Whitehead, Jade Proctor, Logyn Rylander, Hugo Obori, Sayada Aklima Jannat and Bailey Frerichs. Whitehead, a music industry major at Monmouth University, wants to establish his own live entertainment brand geared for young people of color; his $10,000 scholarship is given to students pursuing careers in concert promotion, venue operation, sponsorship, ticketing and artist management. Dillard University theater technology major Proctor was awarded the $10,000 Tiffany Green Operator Scholarship to support young women aiming to enter the live entertainment business. Rylander, who majors in commercial music at Tennessee State University, earned the $10,000 Steven J. Finkel Service Excellence Scholarship given to students who wish to improve live music for fans and artists. The $10,000 Governors Ball Scholarship was granted to New York University music business major Obori, whose aspirations include promoting Asian representation. Winona State University music performance and music business major Jannat earned the $5,000 Affinity Plus Scholarship to pursue her goal of creating music that nurtures community and empowers individuals. Finally, the other Affinity Plus Scholarship went to Minnesota State University, Mankato music industry major Frerichs, who wants to broaden her experience in all sectors of the live industry to support venues.
