Seventy-nine venues in 32 U.S. states have announced concerts where voters receive free admission after polls have closed on Nov. 7. Different venues use different distribution techniques, with some fans accessing an allotment of tickets by posting a photo to Instagram, tagging the venue and @iVotedConcerts. Other participating shows will let in the first 200, 100 or 50 persons who walk up with a picture of themselves outside their polling place, and some shows will provide free non-alcoholic beverages to those who display the selfies. #iVoted co-founder Emily White of Collective Entertainment says such offerings will be the only way to obtain tickets for certain sold-out performances. Among the venues participating in the program are New York's Brooklyn Bowl and Irving Plaza, Chicago's Thalia Hall and City Winery, and Los Angeles' Echoplex and The Echo. White notes she helped start #iVoted in response to low numbers of young voters who participated in the presidential election in her home state of Wisconsin. "We realized if we took the concept national it would have that much more impact," she says.
