The Los Angeles Football Club's (LAFC) Banc of California Stadium deploys cutting-edge technology behind the scenes to create a seamless fan experience, including easy mobile ticketing and stadium-wide Wi-Fi. The club is the third Major League Soccer team to start using biometric scanning with biosecurity firm Clear, which collects the data in sync with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, with hopes of expediting beer purchases, among other perks. SafeTix employs a unique, identifiable mobile ticket with an encrypted bar code that automatically refreshes every few seconds, as part of the Ticketmaster Presence program. This initiative tracks access to venues while also supplying teams and stadiums with access to fans, so "personalized fan experiences" can be improved. Ticketmaster is creating and investigating new features for Presence, including facial recognition technology through Blink Identity. "At the end of the day it really all boils down to reducing friction," says LAFC's Christian Lau. "It's about getting our customers in the building quickly to start cheering for the team."
