The Colorado Ballet's 2021 holiday season will be its 63rd, and it typically runs for a month, or about 25 performances, and is a boon for the state’s marquee ballet. Indeed, sales for this series comprised over 50% of its annual revenue, which tallied $15.5 million last year. The Denver Post, though, was curious as to how ticket prices have fared over the years. Post journalists took a look at tickets for the Colorado Ballet's "Nutcracker" going back to 2000. What they found was heartening. The cheapest tickets to the show have resisted inflation for the past quarter-century, increasing just $22 in that time to a current price of $40. American consumers have seen a cumulative price increase for goods and services of 69.95% since 2000, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports, whereas the cheapest tickets to "The Nutcracker" have risen only 45%.
