Hurricane Helene wreaked heavy damage throughout the U.S. Southeast in late September, prompting some arenas and other venues to serve as emergency shelters where thousands of displaced residents have been housed and fed. The city of Asheville, North Carolina, a key market in the live music industry, was hit especially hard. Among the public assembly facilities supporting their communities in need were ExploreAsheville.com Arena in Asheville; Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina; and Tucker Civic Center, Tallahassee, Florida. An Accuweather analysis cautioned that the economic fallout could top $160 billion. Harrah's Cherokee Center, a multi-venue complex in Asheville that includes ExploreAsheville.com Arena, was serving as a shelter as recently as last weekend. Several events have either been canceled or postponed there, most notably two Goose concerts (Oct. 25-26) and two performances of Paw Patrol Live! (Oct. 29-30).
