London's Wembley Stadium was flooded by ticketless fans during the European 2020 Championship final between England and Italy on July 11, which the venue blamed on a security breach. Officials worked with stewards and security to eject them. Stadium officials said earlier that fans attempted to get in through a low barrier, but stewards and police held them back as they pushed through. The initial statement declared that "safety measures were quickly activated in the relevant areas and there were no security breaches of people without tickets getting inside the stadium." The 90,000-seat Wembley Stadium currently operates under a cap of about 67,000 attendees due to the pandemic.
