A new version of "Evita" starring Rachel Zegler in the title role is coming to Broadway next spring at a Shubert theater to be announced at a later date. The production comes to New York after a critically acclaimed West End run at the London Palladium, with Zegler reprising her role as Eva Perón. In England, the production became known for a scene in which Zegler would stand on the theater's balcony and sing "Don’t Cry for Me Argentina" to crowds gathered outside the venue. All indications are that it will not be possible in Manhattan due to safety concerns. Zegler returns to Broadway after starring in "Romeo + Juliet" from September 2024 through February 2025. She recently won an Olivier Award for her "Evita" performance.
