Europe's Eurosonic Noorderslag (ESNS) festival and music conference has partnered with PlayPass to deploy a new integrated digital payment solution across 42 venues in the Dutch city of Groningen, where next year's event is scheduled. Attendees, delegates and artists will be allowed to pay at all ESNS locations with their preferred near-field communication wristband, mobile wallet or payment card. PlayPass' point-of-sale device will guarantee acceptance of all digital payment options on a single device. Visitors can upload money onto wristbands before getting them at registration in Groningen's Oosterpoort, the central hub of ESNS, or top them up on-site via kiosks. The Payconiq mobile app will allow top-ups by Dutch and Belgian visitors, and visitors loading funds before arrival can register an online personal account to track their spending history and top up credit on their smartphone. "To date we have focused on providing a reliable system for events to decrease costs and optimize revenue," said PlayPass CEO David De Wever. "Now we are advancing to our next evolution, which is about adding direct value by creating longer-term visitor relationships and unlocking new monetization opportunities."
