German promoter and ticketing operator Deutsche Entertainment Aktiengesellschaft (DEAG) announced the acquisition of a 75% stake in U.K. ticket agency Gigantic Holdings through its MyTicket Services arm. Gigantic exclusively services third-party content, and this year the company launched a fan-to-fan resale platform and made inroads into paperless ticketing on the Ed Sheeran summer 2019 shows in Britain. "We are extremely proud that we have established and maintained consistent growth for Gigantic in a competitive marketplace," declared Gigantic executives Mark Gasson and James Woodward. "We now look forward to continuing this growth alongside the committed team at MyTicket." MyTicket issued a statement praising Gasson and Woodward for building "a company with a reputation for providing reliable, customer-focused and honest ticketing. Gigantic will remain an independent company and will continue to do great work for Promoters, festivals and customers throughout the U.K." DEAG expects a surge in tickets sold through its own ticketing platforms MyTicket.de, MyTicket.co.uk and MyTicket.at to more than 1.1 million in the current financial year, and plans to at least double the number of tickets sold via its own platforms to over 2 million next year. The promoter predicts MyTicket will become its "fastest growing business segment and an important earnings driver in 2020."
