Comcast and Ticketmaster will permit the cable company's Xfinity X1 customers to access tour dates and request concert tickets directly through their television sets using Ticketmaster’s open ticketing platform. The first event will be three-time Grammy Award winner Kelly Clarkson and her 2019 “Meaning of Life” Tour. As of Sept. 18, customers can simply say “Kelly Clarkson Tour” into their Voice Remote to access a special presale window and see a list of Clarkson’s local performance dates and venues right on the TV, powered by Ticketmaster’s open platform and API. Customers can then choose to receive a text with a unique code that will allow them to complete the purchase online. "Our team is always thinking of new ways to reach more fans by extending Ticketmaster’s open platform," said Ticketmaster senior vice president & general manager, distributed commerce Dan Armstrong. "This partnership with Comcast is a groundbreaking way to discover events and buy tickets." From Sept. 18-23, all Xfinity customers can access a special presale window and purchase their tickets through xfinity.com. Comcast and Ticketmaster will roll out this ticketing capability to additional concerts and events on X1. The move follows a recent partnership with Comcast and Fandango enabling customers with X1 to browse local show times and theaters for popular theatrical releases on their TV.
