AEG Presents is teaming with the Postmates delivery app to provide online ordering from 10 out of some 50 food concessions at this year's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The partnership will allow attendees to skip lines to order food, as well as wait around while it is prepared. Customers anywhere in Indio's Empire Polo Club will get texts notifying them of when their order is ready and where to pick it up. "I think that's a big shift for us and maybe a taste of what food service will look like in the future," says Coachella culinary director Nic Adler. Because text messaging associated with Postmates Pickup could strain cell phone networks at the festival, Verizon will implement additional resources at the Polo Club. Postmates Pickup streamlines food ordering by having centralized pickup spots, so fans will not have to search for concession stands or split up parties if groups want to order different items. “Once you put your order in, you'll confirm whether you're in VIP or GA, and once you confirm that, it will give you the pickup location," Adler says. "There's one central pickup location in each area. You'll be showing them your phone. It will have your little tag on there. It's set up almost like a concierge. That person will radio in your food. Your food will come out."
