Carrie Underwood is employing augmented reality (AR) in kicking off the National Football League season as part of a new show open for NBC's Sunday Night Football (SNF) debut on Sept. 10. The open features an updated version of the song “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” and a concert performance at Resorts World Theatre in Las Vegas that includes AR highlights displayed across a halo scoreboard. Fans were able to view highlights from the new show open during the Aug. 3 Hall of Fame Game on NBC and its Peacock streaming service. “We're thrilled to work with Carrie to capture a new vision for this season's show open. It sets the tone for the broadcast and pays tribute to the teams, star players and fans in a fun and dynamic way,” said Tripp Dixon, creative director of the SNF show open for the past 11 years.
