Broadway Direct recently published its end-of-the-year recap of the most memorable moments in Broadway theatre for 2025. "Wicked" topped the list for being both a hit at the movie box offices and continues to play to sold-out crowds, with the New York production welcoming Lencia Kebede as the first Black actor to play Elphaba on Broadway full-time. "Hamilton" celebrated its 10th anniversary. May, meanwhile, saw the return of Ham4Ham, the outdoor concert series that originated back in 2015 while hopefuls waited in the show's ticket lottery line. The 78th Tony Awards ceremony made history, with Asian American actors winning across three acting categories. Also, New York magazine published its annual "Yesteryear" issue in which 29 Broadway stars revisited their most memorable roles through an interview and photo shoot. Among the most noteworthy were Barbra Streisand and now 100-year-old Dick Van Dyke. Finally, the article paid In Memoriam to those Broadway greats who had passed away this past year -- everyone from Gene Hackman and Diane Keaton to Charles Strouse and Tom Stoppard.
