The new Blockparty app available for download in the iOS App Store attempts to ease the ticket purchasing experience and address such aggravations as ticket fraud, long check-in procedures and predatory secondary market resellers. "We want to rid the world of ticket bots and scalpers," says Blockparty CEO Shiv Madan. "We also want people to be able to easily transfer event tickets and safely purchase secondary tickets." Blockparty uses smart contracts to remove bulk buying by bots and unfair re-pricing on secondary markets by limiting resale to the proprietary platform. The app also uses encrypted facial recognition and fingerprinting to theoretically thwart fraudsters and counterfeiters, guaranteeing that only actual ticket-holders can access tickets while maintaining their anonymity. Blockparty also offers benefits for live event organizers, ticketing firms, venues and artists by letting event operators easily give tickets directly to customers, as well as set prices, incentives and discounts. The platform's initial launch at the Elements Lakewood Music Festival had the app used for ticketing an exclusive event for hundreds of attendees. The key to Blockparty's ultimate success will likely be finding a major festival willing to gamble on them and operate their entire ticketing sale through the platform.
