Pollstar (02/21/24) Pittman, Sarah
Pollstar is celebrating Black History Month with an interview compilation article featuring several Black female executives who help bring music to live audiences. Among them is Mari Davies, Vice President of Booking and Talent at Live Nation Urban. Her 2023 highlights included producing some of the largest music festivals in Georgia (One Music Fest), Pennsylvania (Roots Picnic), and the nation's capital (Broccoli City Fest). Kara Hailele-Griffin Coleman, Director of Marketing + Product Development at WMG Global Catalog/RHINO, says her biggest personal accomplishment last year was "showing up as my whole self every . . . single . . . day. That, for me, is always a BIG one!" On a professional level, her top achievement was leading the team that celebrated the 50th anniversary of hip-hop with a year-long, multi-tiered campaign dubbed THIS IS HIP-HOP AT FIFTY. Also interviewed for the piece was Femme It Forward President and CEO Heather Lowery. Among her organization's 2023 achievements was hosting the second annual GiveherFlowHERS Awards Gala, which honored such trailblazing Black women as Brandy and Teyana Taylor.
