According to the latest data compiled by concert ticket tracker Pollstar, the average ticket price for the top 100 concert tours in this year's first quarter was a record $123.25. With some artists struggling to fill seats, though, some are wondering if that number is sustainable. Artists like Taylor Swift and Beyonce continue to sell tickets at record clip. Unfortunately, the average concertgoer lacks the funds in reserve for shows like they did fresh out of pandemic-era lockdown. Many of them blew their so-called "funflation" dollars on major experience concerts like Swift, leaving little to no room for comparatively smaller stars also at premium prices. Live Nation, parent company of Ticketmaster, insists that its stars — particularly Justin Timberlake and Pink — are doing "extremely well." A company statement read: "Every year, some events naturally fall off for various reasons. In 2024, across all venue types, we've seen a 4% cancellation rate — which is flat to last year."
