Pollstar's recap of recent Australia-New Zealand news stated that Brisbane's 52,500-seat Suncorp Stadium could permanently stage a dozen concerts a year starting in 2025. It had previously been capped at six. But, in 2022, the Queensland government temporarily lifted it to help revive the live events industry post-pandemic. Now, government officials want to maintain it and are calling for community feedback. In other news, SXSW Sydney returns Oct. 14-20 and is calling for submissions for panels, presentations, workshops, and showcases from the live music, games, music, and screen sectors. Meanwhile, after a four-decade partnership, manager Michael McMartin has resigned from Sydney-based Hoodoo Gurus due to poor health. Finally, New Zealand's largest one-day music festival, Electric Avenue, recorded another sellout Feb. 24 at Christchurch's Hagley Park. More than 35,000 fans enjoyed a 35-strong bill that included everyone from the Chemical Brothers to SIX60 playing their farewell show with founding member, Eli Paewai.
